Results from round 2:
GM Anand, Viswanathan, India (2797) – GM Najditsch, Arkadij, Germany (2706) draw
GM Carlsen, Magnus, Norway (2865) – GM Adams, Michael, England (2738) 1-0
GM Baramidze, David, Germany (2594) – GM Aronian, Levon, Armenia (2777) draw
GM Caruana, Fabiano, Italy (2811) – GM Bacrot, Etienne, France (2711) draw
The world champion is the sole leader with 1.5/2 after beating Adams convincingly. The move which really impressed Adams was the deep prohylactic move 16.a4! preventing Black from moving his own pawn to a4. Anand had an extra pawn he couldn’t exploit to a win in a double rook ending against Najditsch so a draw was the result. Also in the longest game of the day Caruana had an extra pawn but the outcome was nevertheless a draw. Baramidze-Aronian had a drawish tendency from the start to the end and ended in a draw.
