17th of March to the 7th of April the FIDE World Women’s Chess Championship 2015 will take place in ”the intellectual capital of the world”, Sochi, Russia. The reigning world champion Hou Yifan, China, was unable to come due to personal reasons. However, Hou Yifan will be able to challenge the new champion in a match this autumn, as she is the winner of the FIDE Grand Prix. Altogether 64 women fight for a world championship match against Hou Yifan. The highest rated participants are GM Humpy Koneru, India (2681) GM Ju Wenjun, China (2557) GM Anna Muzychuk, Ukraina (2552) and GM Viktorija Cmilyte, Lithuania (2530).
