På Schack-OS officiella hemsida går det att läsa: "FIDE President Elections for the next 4 years were held in Khanty-Mansiysk on September 29, 2010. The current president won with a margin of 40 votes. Kirsan Ilyumzhinov nominated by the Russian Chess Federation, won 95 votes while his opponent, Anatoly Karpov, nominated by Germany and several other Western states, received 55 votes. The elections were held in secret ballot"
