40th HARKANY Open chess tournament, Hungary, 17-24 Nov 2016

Dear Chessfriends,

Today I agreed with the main organizer, Mr AMBRUS, Lajos, that I will take part in the organisation.
They have a website now in Hungarian: www.baranyasakk.hu
My son Tamas (23, B.Sc) will translate the tournament schedule into English and German and latest on Monday 29th August I will send you those versions to read and publish.
The HARKANY Open tournament will be good:
1. To play for IM-norms and ELO ratings,
2. To have a nice thermal bath in the city (The entry fee will contain the free entry to the thermal bath)
3. To meet with around 100 players from around 10-15 countries.
4. To taste the local famous wines 🙂
Maybe possible the combination:
1. 5-15 November Budapest First Saturday,
2. 17-24 November Harkany Open,
3. 3-13 December Budapest First Saturday
I will travel to Harkany on 17th November from Budapest, in the case of interest I will help to the players to travel there, many players from Budapest will have places in their cars.
