Vassily Ivanchuk, Ukraina (2715) – Loek van Wely, Netherlands (2667) 1-0
Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, France (2757) – Tejmour Radjabov, Azerbaijan (2734) draw
Ding Liren, China (2732) Baadur Jobava, Georgia (2727) 1-0
Ivan Saric, Croatia (2666) – Hou Yifan, China (2673) draw
Anish Giri, Netherlands (2784) – Fabiano Caruana, Italy (2820) draw
Wesley So, U.S. (2762) – Levon Aronian, Armenia (2797) 1-0
Radoslaw Wojtaszek, Poland (2744)Magnus Carlsen, Norway (2862) 1-0

This was a very dramatic round. The most surprising was that Carlsen lost to Wojtaszek. However Carlsen has not showed his top level capacity for a while, not even when he played Anand for the world championship in Sochi 2014. Most probably this loss will give Carlsen a lot of energy for the rest of the games. The most beautiful game was clearly that between Ivanchuk-van Wely. This game is recommended to be looked at thoroughly! So beat Aronian after the latter played the gross error 20…Ng8?? instead of 20…Nd7 and lost material and the game. Ding Liren won easily against Baadur who played too aggressively with g5-g4 against White’s king and castled long which really looked like suicide. Here is another recap from round 3.
